Sundays/Planning a Visit

We met every Sunday Morning at 11am in a temporary building in Weldon Way, Merstham.

Sundays is the time the whole church community gets together, to worship God.

On a typical Sunday we pray individually and collectively, we worship God through singing and someone will share a word from the Bible. There is normally time to share scripture, pray for and encourage one another.

The children usually go out to their own group halfway through the service.

Every third Sunday we share communion.

After the service’ we chat over tea/coffee and cake or sometimes share a meal.

What to expect: We are friendly and welcome all visitors. We are a relaxed bunch of people who love God and desire to serve Him. If you have children, we have tables at the back if they want to draw and read, and we also have a Sunday School during the service.

Church Community Events

Carol Singing 2015

As a church community, we occasionally met for events such as a quiz night, BBQ or a group eat out at a local restaurant. Sometimes we also eat a meal together after a Sunday service.

Fridays Prayer and Praise

Every Friday, 8-9pm at MBC. Space to spend time with God in worship and prayer.

The Garden

Garden Project 2015

Every Friday from 2pm and some Sundays after the service (weather permitting) during the spring, summer and autumn, we meet to maintain the vegetable garden by weeding and planting out.

Adults and children enjoy being involved in the garden, and of course, gardening is a topic that is mentioned a lot in the Bible, with Jesus using it to sometimes illustrate His teachings; Mark 12:1-12 and Matthew 13:1-43, are a couple. It’s wonderful to physically see plants grow from seed, bigger and stronger until they produce fruit to enjoy, and then eventually die down or seed themselves all over the garden.

We have enjoyed a great harvest for the past few years, with tomatoes, courgettes, pumpkins, beans, potatoes, onions, garlic and herbs. Last year we introduced wildlife friendly plants where we had so many bees we couldn’t get to some of the plants!

We have many people who stop and chat when they see the garden, as it’s visible for all to see as they walk by. Last year we gave out free plants, vegetables and fruit to the community, all grown with love in Merstham and for Merstham. We would like to make this space into more of an official community garden, where people can come in and out and enjoy being in the garden just as much as looking at it.

Pathways

‘Pathways’ is M.B.C’s second Sunday Service.

A group for everyone but with a particular focus on those with special needs and disabilities.

Starts at 4pm every Sunday with refreshments. The main service consists of a short talk, prayer, communion and singing. The service begins at 4.45 p.m. and finishes at 5.30 p.m.  Pathways has a long history, mostly under its previous name ‘The Epiphany Project’ with some having being members for up to 20 years. It is led by Rev. Nigel Copsey.

School’s Out

We meet every Friday term time for primary school years 1-6 at 3:30-4:45pm for fun and games, craft, team challenges, prizes, tuck shop and hearing stories from the Bible.
